The supported [integration between Payhawk and DATEV](/help/connecting-payhawk-to-duo) automatically creates the **BU7**, **BU8**, and **BU9** VAT rates. However, you can add your own, custom VAT rates (BU codes) in Payhawk. > [!TIP] > All of your VAT rates will appear in **Spend**. When a new expense is created, it will use the default VAT rate from the expense category. You can set [default VAT rates](/help/creating-editing-and-deleting-default-tax-rates) in the categories. ## Creating new VAT rates in Payhawk To create additional custom VAT rates (BU codes): 1. Log in to your Payhawk account. 2. Go to **Settings** > **Fields library**. 3. Click on **Tax rate**. 4. Click on **Add rate** and, in the **New tax rate** panel, enter the desired VAT name in **Name**. 5. In **Code**, enter the **BU-Code** from DATEV. 6. Enter the rate in **Rate %**. 7. Click on **Save*.*** ## Editing or deleting existing tax rates from Payhawk To edit or delete existing VAT rates (BU codes): 1. In the [Payhawk Web Portal](https://portal.payhawk.com), go to **Settings** > **Fields library**. 2. Click on **Tax rate**. 3. To edit a VAT rate, click on it. In the panel that opens, update its values and click **Save**. To delete a VAT rate, select its checkbox. In the panel that opens, under **Operations**, click on **Delete** and confirm. ![Tax rate page in the Fields library with the Rates tab open, showing DATEV VAT rates with their name, code and rate.](https://cdn.payhawk.com/Navigation%20images%20Desi_20261015/Adding_VAT_rates_with_DATEV_BU_codes_20261015_ai.png)
