# Changing your security code

If you have virtual or physical Payhawk cards issued in your name, you must have created a [four-digit security code](/help/activating-your-personal-payhawk-account) when the cards have been assigned to you. This security code protects is required for the cardholder to view their card details and PIN code thus ensuring the protection of sensitive information.

The security code of your Payhawk card can be updated whenever needed both from the Payhawk Mobile App and Payhawk Web Portal.

## Updating the security code in the Mobile App

To change the security code of your Payhawk cards in the Payhawk Mobile App:

1. Tap your profile icon.
2. On the next screen, select **Change security code**.
3. Enter your current security code.
4. Enter your new security code and, then, confirm it.

## Updating the security code in the Web Portal

To change the security code of your Payhawk cards in the Payhawk Web Portal:

1. Click on our profile icon and select **Manage profile**.
2. Go to **Change security code** and click on the **Change security code** button.
3. Enter your current security code and click on **Continue**.

If you don't remember your current security code, click on **Forgot code?** and follow the steps in this [troubleshooting article to reset it](/help/i-forgot-my-security-code).
4. Enter your new security code and click on **Continue**.
5. Confirm your new security code and click on **Confirm**.
