Understanding how to navigate card access on Payhawk can save you time and enable seamless financial operations.
Accessing Payhawk virtual cards
This guide explains how to use virtual cards in common scenarios, such as delays with physical cards or blocked cards, and highlights the steps to onboard and use Payhawk cards properly.
Using virtual cards while waiting for physical cards
If you need card access before your physical card arrives, we recommend issuing a virtual card. Virtual cards are nearly instant to create and can be used for payments immediately.
Once your physical card is delivered, you can deactivate the virtual card if it's no longer needed.
Temporary solutions for blocked cards
If your physical card has been compromised and is blocked, you can issue a virtual card to address urgent payment needs. These virtual cards are available immediately and can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay for instant use.
Transitioning from virtual to physical cards
Once your physical card is activated, you can update your workflows or teams to reflect the switch. If you prefer, you can also choose to deactivate the virtual card to maintain simplicity in your card management processes.
Onboarding for Payhawk cards
Accessing Payhawk-issued cards and available credit requires completing all onboarding steps:
For US-issued cards, log into your Payhawk account and navigate to Manage Profile. Complete the identity verification form which is required under regulatory compliance like the Patriot Act. After submission, the card issuer will complete due diligence checks. Cards are generally issued shortly after.
If you encounter delays where cards are in Waiting status or missing funding information, ensure that your Payhawk account has an active funding or balance account set up. Note that demo environments can display mock information that does not apply to live accounts.
