Skills and playbooks supported by the Payments AI Agent

The native capabilities of the Payhawk Payments AI Agent are delivered as skills and playbooks, which can be run through AI chat.

A skill is a single, self-contained task; it performs one task from start to finish, such as looking something up, asking for a card, changing a spend policy or checking the cash position.

A playbook is like a recipe. It chains several skills into an end-to-end workflow that reaches a single goal, such as reviewing card and spend-control fit or checking if a payment run is covered.

Apart from the skills and playbooks Payhawk provides out of the box, you can build your own custom playbooks tailored to how your organization works.

Ask for a card, more funds or cash	Asks for a new virtual, physical or single-use card, more money on one you hold, or cash access.
Get details on a card	One card in full: holder, expiry, limits, what is left and what is available right now.
Card spend, including declines	Card spending with its status (gone through, pending or declined) with the reason it failed.
Freeze, unfreeze or close a card	Stops a card working, starts it again, or closes it for good with a confirmation first.
Who asked for a card, funds or cash	Open and past requests for a card, extra money or cash access, with the reason given.
Overview of spend policies	The spending and card rules in force across the company.
Details of a spend policy	One policy in full: its limits, the payment types it allows and who approves what.
Change a spend policy	Changes a policy limit or its cash, ATM and online switches, or moves a card onto it, every affected card listed first.
Questions about spend controls	Where limits are actually being hit, which controls cut the most spend, and where the rules no longer fit.
View a card transaction	One transaction with a readable merchant name; card numbers are never included.

How does Payhawk work?	Answers how Payhawk works and what is switched on here, citing its sources.
Tell someone their claim moved	Nudges the person when a claim is approved, paid or sent back. Payhawk pushes this.
Tell a cardholder a payment declined	Flags card payments that failed, with the reason. The alert comes from Payhawk.
