FAQ on cards

Prev Next

This article provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) related to Payhawk cards.

Can I pay contactless for my first transaction with a Payhawk physical card?

Yes, your first transaction can be contactless, if the transaction amount is up to USD 30, EUR 30, or GBP 30. If the amount is higher than that, this will be considered a high-value transaction, and you will be prompted to chip and insert PIN code.

  1. Confirm card payment screen showing details and timer for transaction approval.

Can I use my card immediately after resetting the PIN?

No. You must complete a chip-and-PIN transaction at a POS terminal or a balance inquiry at an ATM to activate the new PIN before in-person payments work.

Why does my card still decline after I reset the PIN?

The card declines until you activate the new PIN. Complete a chip-and-PIN purchase at a POS terminal or a balance inquiry at an ATM to activate it.

Why do online payments and Apple Pay still work when my card is blocked?

Online payments and Apple Pay do not use the physical PIN, so they continue to work even when the card is blocked for in-person use.
