When your supplier opens the secure advice link, they will see the payment's progress as a timeline with the most recent stage highlighted. The page will update automatically and your supplier can check back at any time.
Reading the status timeline
The following table lists the stages through which a remittance advice moves through.
Because the remittance advice status page reflects a sequence of events, a later event can change the status of the payment even after that payment looks complete, for example, when a payment is returned by the recipient’s bank after its been settled. The advice status page will always show the most recent payment stage.
Stage | What it means for the supplier |

In transit | The payment has been authorized and is on its way through the banking network. |
Settled | The payment should have arrived. The value date shows when the funds are expected to be available. |
Payment returned | The payment did not complete. A supplier will only see this status if the payment was authorized in Payhawk and they were notified that it was on its way. For US payments, the status may first show Settled and then change to Payment returned. This usually happens when the receiving bank returns the payment within its return window, most often because the beneficiary's bank details need correcting. |
Understanding the value date
The value date is the day the funds are expected to be available to the supplier. It is always an expected date, not confirmation that the funds have arrived.
For most payments the value date matches the settlement date.
For international payments it can differ, which is why the page shows it separately.
For US payments, the value date is an estimated arrival date, and the payment can take from 0 to 3 business days to settle.
Reopening the link later
The remittance advice status page shows the latest status. To open it again later, or on another device, your supplier needs to use the original link in their email. The shortened web address shown after the page loads can reopen the page in the same browser, but the email link is the reliable way back.
