Payhawk Administrators at your company can connect your Payhawk account to Slack, enabling the Financial Controller AI Agent as a communication channel that employees can use to interact with the AI Agent.
Before you start
To connect the AI Agent to Slack, you must be an administrator in both Payhawk and your Slack workspace. This ensures you have the necessary permissions to authorize the integration and manage notifications.
Once Slack is connected, the Financial Controller AI Agent immediately starts sending consolidated reminders to employees in the linked Payhawk entity.
Users with matching email addresses in Slack and Payhawk will receive consolidated reminders automatically, even if they haven't manually authenticated in Slack.
If a user's Slack email differs from their Payhawk email, they must authenticate in Slack to start receiving reminders or approve requests.
Connecting the AI Agent to Slack
You can connect Payhawk to Slack to manage employee card payments through the Financial Controller AI Agent in the following way:
In the Payhawk web portal, go to Settings > AI Office.
Go to Financial Controller Agent and click on Connect.
Select Slack and click on Continue. As a result, the Slack connection flow will start.
Grant permissions to share data between Payhawk and Slack by clicking on Continue.
Excluding employees from chasing
As a Payhawk Administrator, you can turn off the AI Agent's reminders for specific employees directly from the chat. This helps when someone is on leave or should not be chased for a period.
To manage the exclusion list, message the Financial Controller AI Agent and:
Ask it to stop chasing a specific employee to add that person to the exclusion list.
Ask which employees are currently excluded to review the list.
Ask it to resume chasing an employee to remove that person from the list.
If more than one employee matches the name you provide, the AI Agent asks you to confirm which person you mean before making the change.
Disconnecting from Slack
To disconnect the Financial Controller AI Agent from Slack:
In the Payhawk web portal, go to Settings > AI Office > Financial Controller Agent > Slack.
Click on the three-dot menu and select Disconnect.
Disconnecting from Slack stops all automated follow-ups for users in that Payhawk entity.
The Payhawk app will remain visible in Slack until manually removed from the Slack workspace settings.
Users will no longer be able to take actions for that entity in Slack after disconnection.
