We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead our anti-financial crime efforts. As MLRO, you will be responsible for ensuring our company complies with all UK anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations. You will develop and manage our AML/CTF systems, advise senior management on financial crime risks, and act as the key contact with regulatory bodies like the FCA and NCA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop & Oversee AML/CTF Framework: Create, implement, and maintain our company's AML/CTF policies, procedures, and risk assessment to prevent financial crime.
  • Nominated Officer: Hold the Nominated Officer role under the Money Laundering Regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure we meet all legal and regulatory AML/CTF requirements in the UK.
  • Suspicious Activity Reporting: Act as the nominated officer for receiving internal suspicious activity reports (SARs) and submitting SARs to the National Crime Agency (NCA) when necessary.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial crime risks relevant to our EMI services (e.g., customer verification, transaction monitoring) and implement controls to manage them.
  • Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver AML/CTF training to all staff to ensure they understand their responsibilities.
  • Reporting & Advisory: Report to senior management and the Board on AML/CTF matters and provide expert advice on financial crime risks.
  • Liaison: Be the main contact for the FCA, NCA, and other relevant authorities on AML/CTF issues.
  • Escalation: Be the Subject Matter Expert and point of escalation for the 1st Line onboarding and monitoring teams.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an MLRO or Deputy MLRO, ideally within an EMI or regulated financial services firm in the UK.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK AML/CTF legislation (e.g., MLRs 2017, POCA 2002) and regulatory guidance (FCA, JMLSG).
  • Strong understanding of financial crime risks affecting EMIs.
  • Experience in developing and implementing AML/CTF policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and make sound judgments on suspicious activity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise senior management and liaise effectively with regulators.
  • Ability to work independently and lead the financial crime prevention function.
