Learn how integrating Sage Intacct ERP with Payhawk spend management software can supercharge your business's expense management efficiency. Hear from Payhawk's Senior Director of Solution Engineering Robbie Hadfield about the benefits, including better control, continuous close, complete spend visibility, and streamlined financial processes — all in one seamless experience.
At Payhawk, we offer seamless integrations with ERPs like NetSuite and accounting software solutions like Xero, QuickBooks, and more. We also provide a completely harmonious integration with Sage Intacct ERP with our innovative spend management solution to accelerate expense management, enhance spend control, and optimize financial operations with enhanced security and real-time reconciliation.
We asked Robbie Hadfield, an experienced accountant turned Senior Director of Solution Engineering at Payhawk, eight questions about our Sage Intacct ERP integration feature to break down the benefits. Here's what he said:
"So, our integration with Sage Intacct ERP is broadly the same as what we've done with other accounting systems. So, recognizing that master data from Sage Intacct is key, and by getting that synced with Payhawk, we can ensure there's one source of truth within the ERP.
We use the General Ledger codes in Sage Intacct to build the custom fields in Payhawk, and there's a lot of flexibility on that, which is one of its great strengths. We also bring in the suppliers from Sage Intacct ERP, the tax rates, and so on.
And as with all our integrations, we do look to extend them when we get more experience with the accounting system or ERP, looking at how Sage Intacct ERP x Payhawk customers use them together."
"So firstly, Sage Intacct ERP is one of the leading ERP products in the market, especially in the United States and the UK (with ongoing growth in Europe). Functionality-wise, it's generally on par with the likes of NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, and other core business process solutions.
Secondly, Xero and QuickBooks are very popular and great solutions for SMEs and growing businesses of a certain size. However, once companies start to get bigger and need a more complex ERP, it's quite a big jump to NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. But Sage Intacct ERP offers quite a nice middle ground, so it helps close that gap for a lot of customers."
"There are definitely a few important ones here, so let me give you a list:
For customers who are loyal to Sage Intacct and have loved it for years, this integration will be a game-changer — connecting the dots between spending, accounting, and more."
"Honestly, it's very similar to how we connect to NetSuite and all the other ERPs and accounting software options. Accountants and finance managers love our integrations because we build them with finance professionals in mind and follow the accruals concept … meaning we auto-transfer accounting data without manual uploads or journal entries between the two accounts.
Then, thinking about implementation, when we help you get set up, the key is just making sure you map the correct transaction types, GL codes, etc. But of course, we support customers completely and at every step with implementation to get this right."
"Yes and no. We don't customise the integration itself and instead use our successful approach and broad accounting logic. But how customers use the integration and set their business up is quite personal...
For example, the master data: This is obviously different by company. Likewise, the custom fields, coding, approval workflows, etc., will be different per business but easy to customize as required."
